Ilongga taekwondo jins shine in Women’s Martial Arts Fest

MANILA – Four taekwondo teams from the province and city of Iloilo reaped medals in Poomsae and Speedkicking events of the 2021 Women’s Martial Arts Festival on Wednesday.

Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) Gym bagged nine medals in the three-day virtual event with Julianna Martha Uy and Niesha Kariz Pequierda capturing gold in Poomsae while Jilyn Rose Yap clinched bronze.

In Speedkicking, MVP jins earn gold medals behind triumphs by Jannah Ysabel Velez, Angela Joy Marie Bermejo, Marielle Faye Lagamo, and Lindsy Lorraine Degayo. Alexis Eunice Araneta finished with a silver medal, while Shaena Maryel Lazara had bronze.

Zarraga Taekwondo Dojang, meanwhile, only participated in Speedkicking, where they harvested four gold, three silver, and four bronze medals.

The gold medalists are Herlyn Mende, Ma. Roselle Selle Pueyo, Ma. Christianne Dominique Sudayan, and Djezelree Clavel. Frea Nadine Bedeo, Regina Abello, and Trexy Redondo took home silver medals.

The Angelo Herradura Osayda-mentored squad secured bronze medals following impressive stints by Juvy Mae Alonsabe, January Grizzel Alim, Keira Pradas, and Mary Noelle Alim.

A. Diasnes Gym, for their part, notched 12 medals in Speedkicking and Poomsae.

In Poomsae, Elizabeth Marie Borres and Kasimira Therese Consular topped the event, while Jasmine Kaye Badoles, Elisha Venice Aguilar, and Cindy Joy Diasnes settled for silver medals.

The bronze medalists are Artha Camille Tanagon, Aryan Nicole Rangas, Ayenne Quialquial, and Mariel Angela Siscar.

The team seized silver medals via victories by Sheriemei Anne Hojilla and Crizzel Jhanin Ahmed. April Joy Muyuela contributed bronze.

Lastly, Seth Ryan Taekwondo Academy has the lone medal winner in Meriel Don Belvis, who secured silver in Cadet Poomsae./PN
