MANILA – Ilongga Aduke Ogunsanya is excited with the opportunity to team up with her former collegiate rivals following her recent decision to join the Choco Mucho Flying Titans ahead of the 2022 Premier Volleyball League.
The former De La Salle University Lady Spikers middle blocker will be in the same team as former Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles stars Bea de Leon, Kat Tolentino, Deanna Wong, Ponggay Gaston, and Denden Lazaro-Revilla.
“Challenging siya but I’ll take the challenge,” Ogunsanya said in an interview with One Sports’ The Game. “It’s healthy competition. I get something from them and, hopefully, they get something from me.”
“I’m not taking it negatively. Very positive ‘yung tingin ko dun. Excited akong makalaro yung mga bagong players and excited akong makasama sila,” the Dumangas, Iloilo native added.
Since graduating from Dumangas National High School, Ogunsanya has been with the Lady Spikers and was also playing for its club squad F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the Philippine Superliga.
Ogunsanya shared it was a tough decision for her to leave the Cargo Movers and her former mentor Ramil de Jesus but this is a move that she needs to do to “know more about herself”.
“Parang hindi ko siya ma-explain kasi ang daming factors on why I decided to leave La Salle and F2,” Ogunsanya said. “Pero the main reason is to grow and learn more about myself. And very [firm] naman ako with my decision.”
“At first, takot ako kasi more than eight years na rin ako naging under sa guidance ni Coach Ramil. Going out of my comfort zone is scary. Pero take it or leave it e,” she added.
“Parang lakasan ko na lang yung loob ko and take my journey sa labas ng F2 and La Salle with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans,” the Ilongga middle blocker continued.
Ogunsanya was actually the second former Lady Spikers and Cargo Movers volleybelle to transfer to the Flying Titans following former UAAP Finals MVP and Best Server awardee Desiree Cheng./PN
