ILOILO City — Ilongga volleybelle Athea Jamine Aposaga is returning to Manila, this time as a member of the Adamson University Lady Baby Falcons high school girls volleyball squad.

The Concepcion, Iloilo native was already in Manila to join the Lady Baby Falcons’ preparation for the UAAP Season 85 juniors girls volleyball tournament later this year.

“I am glad to be given another opportunity to play here in Manila, and now in a prestigious and competitive school, in terms of volleyball, in Adamson,” Aposaga told Panay News on Monday.

“Actually, I am the one who approached (Adamson Lady Falcons) coach Jerry (Yee) and since he was already familiar with me, he recommended me to Adamson’s high school team,” she added.

Aposaga was first recruited by Yee to the Hope Christian High School in 2017 but the Ilongga volleybelle opted to return to her hometown after a year.

Aposaga then moved to Central Philippine University Golden Lions where she honed her volleyball skills further and was able to represent Iloilo in various local tournaments.

“I was then recommended by Ka Ruding (Villaruz) to the Hope Christian High School to coach Jerry, who was then scouting for players in Iloilo,” Aposaga said.

“I had a good time as a student/athlete with Hope then but I just felt that I am not that ready yet so I returned to Iloilo and improved my skills further with the Golden Lions,” she added.

“With the experience I earned with CPU, I think I am now ready to go back to Manila. I will do my best to help the team and hopefully spend my collegiate years with Adamson as well,” she further said.

The Lady Baby Falcons were hoping to improve on their runner-up finish during the UAAP Season 82 girls volleyball tournament, where they ended the elimination with 12-7 record./PN
