MANILA – Just like any provincial-based players, Iloilo Doctors’ College (IDC) girls volleyball team standout Shauntell Nicole Pido hopes to see herself playing in the big leagues such as the UAAP.

Pido, who at 14 years of age is standing five-foot-seven, said among her dream schools in Manila are University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Ateneo de Manila University.

“UST and Ateneo are my dream schools ever since,” she said in an interview with Sports Lang. “I grew up watching those two teams, especially Ateneo, since I am a big fan of Alyssa Valdez.”

Aside from Valdez, Pido said that she is also looking up to her elder sister Princess Pido, who was also a product of IDC before being recruited to play for Southwestern University in Cebu.

“My manang Princess greatly influenced me to play volleyball,” Pido said. “At the age of seven, I often joined manang’s practices and I learned a lot from her. It’s a challenge for me to play with her.”

Pido was supposed to be part of the Western Visayas PRISAA team that will compete in this year’s edition of National PRISAA, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic./PN
