MANILA – Ilongga volleybelle Amie “Em Em” Provido vowed she will do whatever it takes to be included in the final roster of the De La Salle University (DLSU) women’s volleyball team.
“I am up for the challenge. We know naman na (Lady Spikers head) coach Ramil (De Jesus) is a strict mentor,” the Pototan, Iloilo-native Provido said over the Sports Lang podcast last weekend.
“Even if he is strict, ‘yung ginagawa niya is for our own good,” she added.” Alam ko na I will be good a player pa under coach De Jesus.”
The five-foot-ten middle blocker Provido is currently a Grade 11 student of DLSU – her dream school. She was supposed to relocate there this year but the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic halted the plan and made her settle for online classes. “I know it will be tough since madami kaming players sa DLSU. If ever nai–bangko (ako) or limited minutes lang ang ibibigay sa akin ni coach, it only shows that I still need to improve,” said the 16-year-old standout from Palanguia National High School in Pototan.
“I will do my best sa training to show the coaching staff that I deserve to be part of the rotation and be given playing time,” she added./PN
