MANILA – Ilonggas Dhannalyn Mae Demontaño and Jackielyn Estoquia of Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors made it to the quarterfinals of the Beach Volleyball Republic On Tour by sweeping their group matches at the Capitol Beachfront in Pangasinan.
Estoquia and Demontaño displayed tremendous improvement in the sand court on Tuesday since their last BVR on Tour appearance last year with a 21-7, 21-12 conquest of Rizal Technological University’s Hannah Patrocenio and Myla Lim.
The Ilongga pair formalized their entry in the quarterfinal round with a 21-10, 21-12 romp of NU Boysen 2’s Bingle Landicho and Kath Epa completing a sweep of their Group D matches.
Negrense Bea Tan and Dij Rodriguez of Perlas Lady Spikers also made it to the next round after topping the Pool A by defeating San Beda’s Ella and Nieza Viray, 21-17, 21-13.
Meanwhile, Ilongga Roma Joy Doromal and Kly Orillaneda of NU-Boysen 1 barged to the next round for topping Pool B while Air Force 1’s May Ann Pantino and Jozza Cabalsa claimed the Pool A top spot.
Pangasinan had a team that made it to the top eight as Alaminos’ Karen Mae Vinluan and April May de Guzman turned back Legaspi and Ong, 21-17, 22-20, to finish second in Pool C with a 2-1 card
The other women’s quarterfinalists are San Beda’s Viray twins (1-1), Air Force 2’s Mikaela Andres and Angel Antipuesto (1-1), and NU Boysen 2’s Landicho and Epa (1-1)./PN
