HERCOR College Junior Jaguars’ Raffy Arguelles and Janwell Famaranco are set to take their talents to Manila after leading Capiz to a historic stint in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa earlier this year.
Arguelles is set to become part of the De La Salle Greenhills Greenies, while Famaranco will continue his remaining high school years with the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers.
The 6-foot-3 Arguelles gained the attention of the Greenies after seeing him play during the 2019 Palarong Pambansa and PRISAA 2019 National Games held in Davao City.
“I am happy to be given the opportunity to play at a prestigious school like DLSU,” Arguelles said. “I am really surprised because I was just informed after my stint in PRISAA.”
Aside from the Greenies, several Manila-based schools have tried to recruit Arguelles before when he represented Western Visayas in the NBTC National Finals but opted to finish his high school eligibility with the Junior Jaguars.
Famaranco, on the other hand, has committed to the Light Bombers and have already joined the team’s practice ahead of the NCAA basketball season next month.
Arguelles and Famaranco were the cornerstones of the team that ruled the WVRAA Meet secondary boys basketball, ending Capiz’s close to six decades of championship futility./PN
Correction….Raffy will be playing for the La Salle Greenhills Greenies in the NCAA Jrs Division. The DLSU Green Archers are the men’s Sr Basketball team playing in the UAAP. FYI.
