MANILA – Ilonggo fighter Arnel Baconaje aims to continue his winning ways as he tangles with Danny Tampipi today (Sept. 4) at the Urdaneta Cultural Sports Complex in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

The San Rafael, Iloilo-native Baconaje is coming off back-to-back technical knockout (KO) victories this year against Jay Lloyd Quidlat in May and Ivor Lastrilla in July.

Tampipi, on the other hand, hopes to snap his losing skid in his boxing return after losing his last two bouts in 2019 against Japan’s Shohei Omura and Pete Apolinar.

The 27-year-old Baconaje will be entering the match with 13-4-0 win-loss-draw ring record, including 11 stoppage wins, while the 32-year-old Tampipi has 9-12-2 slate, with five victories by way of stoppages.

Meanwhile, Negrense boxers Roy Sumugat and Glenn Bismanos are set to square off in the supporting bout of boxing card presented by Robert Hill of VSP Boxing and Cucuy Elorde of UKC Pro Boxing Edition.

The Bacolod City-native Sumugat is eyeing his third consecutive win since making his boxing return in 2020. He is coming off technical knockout wins over Eljohn Evangelista and Richard Morales.

The Sipalay City, Negros Occidental-native Bismanos aims to get back on the winning track after settling for draw in his last two matches, including against Ali Canega last February.

Sumugat currently holds an 11-11-1 win-loss-draw ring record, including five stoppage wins, while Bismanos has 6-1-4 boxing record, with four stoppage wins.

Ilonggo boxer Jules Victoriano (9-3-0, six KOs), on the other hand, looks to improve on his boxing record as he tangles with John Lawrence Ordonio (6-2-1, 4 KOs).

Victoriano has struggled in his past two matches in 2019 against Japanese boxer Yoshimitsu Kimura and fellow Filipino fighter Virgil Puton./PN
