MANILA – Ilonggo dancers from the Matias Balbastro Dance Academy-Philippines took home a total of 21 medals in the Manila Open Dance sport Competition 2021 held recently.
The medals captured by the dancers of head coach Matias Balbastro Cu Tanco in the one-day virtual tournament: 14 gold, four silver and three bronze.
Zoe Alexandria Lanceta of West Visayas State University (WVSU) spearheaded the campaign with three gold medals in Juvenile 2 Latin Solo Chachacha, Solo Jive and Juvenile C.
Joemel Yap Magallanes of Special Education-Integrated School for Exceptional Children (SPED-ISEC) also had three gold medals in the Youth Male Latin Youth D, Youth C and Youth Duo Open.
Leanne Reigh Lanceta of Iloilo National High School (INHS), for her part, also got three gold medals in the Youth Female Latin Youth D, Youth C and Youth Duo Open categories.
Bryant Stefano Embalsado of University of the Philippines-Visayas (UPV) captured two gold in Junior 1 Male Latin Solo Chachacha and Solo Jive, and silver in Junior C Male Latin.
Mary Ysabelle Cartagena of SPED-ISEC took two gold medals in Junior 1 Female Latin Solo Chachacha and Youth Duo Open, and silver in Junior 1 Female Latin Solo Jive.
John Michael Laniog Tamudtamud of INHS, meanwhile, captured a gold medal in the Youth Male Duo Open, while settling for a silver medal in the Youth Male Latin event.
Dana Angelica Galfo of SPED-ISEC also won a gold medal with Kate Jaramillo in the Youth Female Duo Open, while she also took silver in the Youth Female Latin Youth D and bronze in Youth C. Jaramillo, for her part, also had two bronze medals in Adult Open Female Latin Grade B and C Female Latin.
Syhara Jayden Gabasa and Sabryna Hailey Gabasa capped the medalist for Matias Balbastro Dance Academy-Philippines as they captured a silver medal in the Junior Duo Female Latin category./PN
