MANILA – Dancers from the Iloilo City-based Matias Balbastro Dance Academy recently participated in various virtual competitions, winning nine medals.
Joemel Magallanes earned two gold medals in Metro Classic Online Dancesport Championship after topping the Youth B Male and Youth C Male divisions.
Magallanes, a Special Education-Integrated School for Exceptional Children (SPED-ISEC) standout, also notched gold in the Youth Male D category and silver in the Youth Male C category of the Cagayan De Oro Online Dancesport Competition.
On the other hand, SPED-ISEC’s Dana Angelica Galfo garnered two gold medals in the Metro Classic Online Dancesport Championship after reigning supreme in the Youth C Female and Youth D Female.
Sabryna Hailey Gabasa and Jayden Gabasa defeated their opponents in the Junior Duo division of the Cagayan De Oro Online Dancesport Competition to seize the title.
Meanwhile, West Visayas State University’s Leanne Reigh Lanceta got two silver medals in the Cagayan tilt after finishing second in Youth Female C and Youth Female D.
Head coach Matias Balbastro Cu Tanco was overjoyed for his dancers that competed in the twin competitions since they all received medals.
“I just want to thank the Lord since hindi man gid kami pinabayaan despite all the adversities. Also, I want to congratulate my dancers because all of them finish with medals each,” Balbastro told Panay News./PN
