MANILA – Taekwondo jins from the Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) Taekwondo Gym dominated the speed kicking event of the 2020 Smart/MVPSF Online National Taekwondo CPJ Championship recent recently.

Ateneo de Iloilo standout Cyd Edryc Esmaña bagged a gold medal in the cadet male category of kickpad kicking while Angela Joy Marie Bermejo captured gold in the kickpad kicking and a silver medal in free kicking, junior female match.

Prior to his golden finish in the tournament, Esmaña garnered silver medals from the 2020 Smart/MVPSF Online National Taekwondo CPJ Championship and 2nd Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Online Poomsae Open 2020.

“I’m very happy and thankful for this achievement. After poomsae competition, I tried my luck in speed kicking and with hard work and determination, nothing is impossible,” said Esmaña.

The Miag-ao-native Bermejo, for her part, was delighted to net a gold medal after a taekwondo hiatus.

“I am so happy that I recovered my performance now. I will always remind myself to stay humble and determined. I would also like to thank my parents and friends (for the support),” Bermejo said.

Alexis Eunice Araneta, Christian Pudadera and Quinn Jimenez, meanwhile, settled for silvers in the free kicking category.

Akimeh Demavivas, Jannah Ysabel Velez, Jhed Anthony Morata, Katrina Mamaril, Crisgel Castro, and Enzo Lucio Cape, on the other hand, bagged bronze medals.
