MANILA – NLEX Road Warriors guard Kiefer Ravena has been named part of the Gilas Pilipinas team that will compete in the 30th Southeast Asian Games to be held in the country later this month.
This will be the Iloilo City native’s fifth SEA Games appearance after winning gold medals in his four previous stints in 2011 in Indonesia, 2013 in Myanmar, 2015 in Singapore, and 2017 in Malaysia.
Also named in the team were Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings’ LA Tenorio, Japeth Aguilar and Stanley Pringle, San Miguel Beermen’s June Mar Fajardo, Chris Ross and Marcio Lassiter.
Completing the team were TNT KaTropa’s Roger Pogoy and Jeth Troy Rosario, Vic Manuel of Alaska Aces, Christian Standhardinger of NorthPort Batang Pier, and Matthew Wright of Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters.
Removed from the team mentored by Tim Cone were Kings’ Gregory Slaughter, Arthur dela Cruz and Earl Scottie Thompson, while KaTropa’s Jayson Castro begged off due to an injury.
The national squad is the first all-pro team to represent the Philippines in SEA Games basketball, where the country has ruled in 17 out of the 19 editions of the biennial meet.
During the 2017 edition, the Philippines defeated Indonesia for the gold medal in the national team that was led by Ravena, Standhardinger and University of the Philippines Maroons’ Kobe Paras./PN
