ILOILO City – Two Ilonggo jins recently gave pride to the country as they earned gold medals in the 4th Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Sports Online Poomsae Open 2021 over the weekend.
Both from Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym, Joshua Cachero and Jilyn Rose Yap dominated the Mixed Pair Blackbelt Over 17 category to get a gold medal.
Cachero and Yap ousted the pairs of Spain’s Shin Seung and Begona Veiga, Mexico’s Juan Flores and Ana Espinosa, and Norway’s Trinh Nguyena and Anette Nilsen.
Cachero was also a gold awardee in the Individual Male Blackbelt Under 30 category on top of Mexico’s Zaid Cornejo, Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Alabyadh, and Greece’s Dimitrios Alepliotis.
On the other hand, Iloilo MVP’s Niesha Kariz Pequierda was a silver medalist in the Cadet Female Blackbelt category.
Shanen Anica Feranco, meanwhile, garnered a bronze medal in the 1st KUP Female Under 17category./PN
