ILOILO City – Having sense of pride is the biggest accomplishment of this southern city for the year 2022, according to Mayor Jerry P. Treñas when asked by members of the city hall press during the recent fellowship with him.

Ang na-achieve naton this year, not so much of the awards but the sense of pride instilled in all of the Ilonggos… ang aton pagpabugal nga taga-Iloilo kita kag mga Ilonggo gid kita,” said Treñas.

The city government’s many initiatives, programs and projects reaped many awards in the national and international levels. These awards are displayed at the ground floor of city hall.

For Treñas, these awards are manifestations that city hall departments and offices are performing.

Meanwhile, the city mayor noted that the city may have several infrastructure projects such as the renovation of district plazas and public markets, among others, but these are all just infrastructures.

“But the sense of pride of being Ilonggo, we don’t get that anywhere.”

Pa-istoryaha da ang mga friends mo, kilala mo, kanami na gid sang Iloilo, lain na na gid ‘ya ang Iloilo… Sang una mahambal wala ka man da kadtuan or lagawan. Ti, subong everyone is talking about Iloilo,” Treñas stressed.

For next year, with several infrastructure projects, the city government wants to give better service to the Ilonggos.

Aside from improvements of public plazas and markets, the city government will be establishing more Iloilo City Action and Response Centers (ICARE) buildings, dialysis centers, and offsite payment centers, among others.

“We want to better serve our constituents, that’s why ginakay-o ta tanan. Ang ICARE ta ginaplastar ta, ang iban naton nga mga infra nga gina-obra. Para mas nami pa gid ang pagserbisyo ta sa mga pumoluyo ta,” said Treñas./PN
