ROXAS CITY – ILOPRISAA-Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix ruled the Secondary Boys Basketball of the 2020 Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet after defeating NOPSSCEA-Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias, 97-78, in the finals on Wednesday.
Dave Bagatnan bannered the champions with 19 points, while Julian Mavrick Puerto and Reneil Gamboa contributed 17 and 15 markers, respectively.
The ILOPRISAA representatives controlled the tempo early into the match that resulted to an immediate double-digit advantage before widening it to as high as 22 points in the second half with NOPSSCEA unable to find their offensive rhythm.
Prior to the championship match, the Vincent Conlu-mentored ILOPRISAA busted all their oppositions in the elimination round. It granted them an outright entry into the gold medal match.
Also part of the ILOPRISAA champion squad were Cedrick Manzano, Ritchie Galvez, Jessie Beker, Jann Paolo Villariza, Lorenzo Yu, Seon Zigua, Jaspher Antijendra, Victor Palileo, Josephus Ubamus, Kirk Zabal and Clint Sabio.
Jules Garcia top-scored with 16 points, while John Mermida added 14 markers for the NOPSSCEA representatives in the losing effort./PN
