ILOPRISAA: John B. prevails over Sun Yat Sen in basketball

ILOILO City – John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University clinched a quarterfinals seat in the 2018 Iloilo PRISAA secondary basketball after a 77-73 win over Sun Yat Sen High School at the Western Institute of Technology Gym.

Ex-Sun Yat Sen cager Paul Vincent Jandic proved to be the thorn on the side of his former school on Tuesday as he led the way for John B. with 17 markers. Emes Sangacena added 16 markers.

Ateneo de Iloilo Blue Dragons, meanwhile, also made it to the Final Eight after a 92-77 rout on Western Institute of Technology.

Gem Owen Gregorio fired 28 points while Timothy Jose Monfort added 16 markers for the Blue Dragons.

Also making it to the playoffs were Central Philippine University Golden Lions, which scored a 57-46 win over Colegio de Sagrado Corazon de Jesus.

Rainne Genesis Ramos and McDones Songcuya both had 15 markers for CPU.

Santa Isabel College of Iloilo completed the quarterfinals casts after a 69-58 win over Filipino American School Town.

Keith Kaede Bernasol had 22 points while Krisian Veren Gicole added 13 markers for Santa Isabel.

Quarterfinals action is slated today with Hua Siong College of Iloilo facing John B., Santa Clarita International School battling Santa Isabel, St. Robert’s International Academy Panda Rockets against CPU and University of San Agustin versus Ateneo de Iloilo.

After today’s matches, the semifinals will be held on Nov. 27 at the Iloilo Sports Complex Gym with the one-game championship happening the next day.

Meanwhile, the six-game bill in the elementary category scheduled on Tuesday at the PAREF-Westbridge Gym was postponed to a later date due to anticipation on Typhoon Samuel./PN
