
ILOILO City – Hua Siong College of Iloilo’s Kyla Soguilon took home four gold medals in the secondary girls swimming event of the ILOPRISAA Meet 2019 over the weekend here.
The Kalibo, Aklan native notched gold medals in the 500-meter backstroke, 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter freestyle, and 50-meter butterfly events.
She also has a silver medal in the 200-meter backstroke.
Soguilon’s dominance in the high school level did not come as a surprise. She notched gold medals as an elementary swimmer in the Palarong Pambansa, Batang Pinoy, Milo Little Olympics, and in international events.
Soguilon, a former Sun Yat Sen High School standout, was also hailed as Junior Athlete of the Year by the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) two years ago.
Soguilon was not the only Hua Siong athlete impressive in the ILOPRISAA Meet. Theo Ange Ngu emerged as the most bemedaled athlete anew in elementary boys athletics.
Ngu captured his gold medals in 200-meter dash and 400-meter run and in 400-meter hurdles to help the Red Phoenix finish at third runner-up overall in the elementary boys athletics.
Hua Siong also placed second runner-up in secondary boys athletics with John Paul Solas netting a gold medal in triple jump and two bronze medals in 4×100 and 4×400 relay./PN
