“I’M AGREE”, indeed terse “words of wisdom” uttered in a senate hearing by professional boxer moonlighting as a traditional politician sometimes senator Manny Pacquiao. The man quite recently also made a record of some sorts when he breezed through in three months what is normally a four-year Bachelor of Science in Political Science at the University of Makati. We have no information if it was with honors nor if he ever attended a single day in class. Manny Pacquiao can now refer to himself as a “political scientist”.
And perhaps it is the “political scientist” in him that also made him utter these now famous lines: “English is just a language and not a measure of intelligence”. I suppose Manny Pacquiao is not aware of the fact that mastery or competence in English or any language for that matter requires a fair amount of intelligence.
Then again, “I’m agree” is a product of “Pacquiao English” – a term coined by colleague Manuel Mejorada which aptly describes the state of Manny Pacquiao’s mastery (or lack) of the Queen’s language.
And to think this dude has the audacity to fancy himself as the next president of the republic.
Meanwhile, moving on…
So now he’s half-Spanish meaning either his father or mother is Spanish…que clase de tonteria es esta!
The reason why Manny Pacquiao claims he is half-Spanish is that he believes he has a striking resemblance to Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, why they’re almost twins…Hahaha right, and pigs fly.
“Pambansang Biro” or Pambansang Uto-uto” – either one seems more appropriate than that self-serving totally ridiculous “Pambansang Kamao”.
Of course he lost. More than ever Manny Pacquiao needs this rematch with Yordenis Ugas. Aside from the fact that he needs more money to finance his political ambitions, his game plan was disrupted because he lost. He desperately needed a win as his main selling point to be president. He believes that besides being “chosen” by God, winning a boxing match is enough to propel him to the presidency.
On the other hand, you’re not a boxing fan but with a keen sense of style looking at pictures of the Pacquiao couple; Manny and Jinkee flaunting their outrageously expensive designer outfits like some peacock strutting its feathers. What comes to mind are fashion victims wearing designer knockoffs bought in a Greenhills tiangge.
Ahay, extravagance in poor taste is almost always so typical of the nouveau riche.
Really, it’s a PAL business class menu, not some classified Senate papers that need the scrutiny and approval of their “resident political scientist”. But of course a menu is also a document. Hahaha.
And we segue to the other oddities…
Malacañang stuck to procurement rules when it entered into contracts for the purchase of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emergency supplies last year even if President Rodrigo Duterte had the power to ignore those as provided for by the Bayanihan 1, 2 and 3 laws the Commission on Audit (COA) told the senators at the senate blue ribbon committee hearing.
Well…well so all the brouhaha by the usual suspects in Senate has nothing to do with in aid of legislation meaning all that noise was just in aid of election not legislation.
So what has got this dude, a certain Jason Gonzales and Jed Mabilog’s husband…errr…wife Marivic so triggered about that it got them squirming in their yellow knickers?
It’s a picture of a recently completed portion of the Esplanade posted on social media by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary Mark Villar identifying it with a hashtag as part of the government’s Build Build Build program.
While Esplanades 1 and 2 were funded during the Aquino administration, constructed and completed during Jed Mabilog’s watch, Esplanade 3 to 10 are funded from the annual REGULAR budget of the DPWH from 2016 forward and therefore part of the Build Build Build program of Secretary Villar.
The 9.035-km Iloilo River Esplanade Project extending from Carpenter’s Bridge along Iloilo Diversion Road to Quirino Lopez Bridge to Muelle Loney Bridge is almost complete. Out of the 10 esplanade projects along Iloilo River with a total funding of P1.12 billion, eight in the amount of P838 million were constructed from 2016 to 2021.
You’re triggered over a hashtag, really pathetic. It’s not important who claims credit, it was built with the people’s money, not your money.
This Filipino trait of demanding to give and receive credits for government projects is a manifestation of the Filipino’s fascination for personalities i.e. focus on form rather than substance so typical of its perverted psyche’s desperate need for approval. So pathetic when it’s really people’s money from taxes spent for the completion of these projects, not their favorite politician that fits their narrative.
Finally, the virus COVID-19 does not move by itself. It needs people to move. If people do not gather or move around, the virus cannot move and it dies. So stay at home. (brotherlouie16@gmail.com)/PN
