ILOILO City – SM Cinema has opened SM IMAX Iloilo featuring the brand-new IMAX® with Laser, a next-generation laser projection and multi-channel sound system that delivers crystal clear, lifelike images and precision audio for a movie-going experience unlike anything else.
The new system premiers with the release of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
Mayor Jerry Treñas acknowledged the significance of this groundbreaking cinema technology entering Iloilo City.
“I would like to congratulate SM City Iloilo as you launch this first-ever IMAX theater in Western Visayas and the pioneering IMAX theater in the Visayas and Mindanao,” said Treñas.
IMAX with Laser is set apart by its 4K laser projection system featuring a new optical engine and a suite of proprietary IMAX technology that delivers crystal clear images, increased resolution, and deeper contrast as the most distinct, exotic colors ever available on-screen, with next-generation IMAX precision sound, delivering greater dynamic range and precision for the ultimate audio immersion. Not to mention its luxury plush rocker seating, and redesigned entryways, custom-designed theatres with stadium seating for clear vantage points at every seat.
