ROXAS City – Ilocos Norte Governor and Senatorial aspirant Imee Marcos told Capiznon she wants to expand the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) recipients for fishermen and farmers.
“Bayaran na lang natin kasi ang ani nila. Wala naman kasing mapapagkunan kung wala silang mabebenta,” said Marcos during her visit in Capiz on Feb. 11.
Many farmers and fisherfolk are not included in the barangay lists of 4Ps recipients even if they are the poorest of the poor because they reside in far-flung communities hardly reached by welfare programs and are rarely visited by government social workers, said Marcos.
“With all these problems we are facing especially by our marginalized sector, Kering Kering natin yan,” she said.
“Kailangan bang kumita ng gobyerno?” Marcos stressed “We give farmers in Ilocos Norte free rice grains, mechanization of compost and irrigation projects.”
The incumbent Ilocos Norte governor came to renew her acquaintances with family, friends and relatives in the province. She will also to attend a multi-sectoral consultation in President Roxas, Capiz.
Gearing up on her 2019 mid-term elections senatorial bid, Marcos doesn’t mind working with former Senator Mar Roxas in case the two will make it to the senate.
Marcos’ visit was welcomed by some political figures in Capiz including the President Roxas Mayor Receliste Escolin , Mambusao mayor Leodegario Labao, former board member Jose Escolin Jr./PN
