MANILA – Filipinos arriving in the country can avoid long lines at immigration counters this holiday season by using electronic gates deployed in Manila, Cebu and Davao airports, an immigration official said Wednesday.
There are 13 e-gates at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), 3 at the Mactan Cebu International Airport, and 2 in Davao International Airport, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said in a statement.
Morente said e-gates only take up to 15 seconds to process a passenger.
“We are targeting to ease the lines during the peak season, as we are expecting an influx of balikbayans and OFWs who will come home during the holidays,” said Morente.
BI Port Operations Division chief Grifton Media asked passengers to be patient in case of technical problems.
Medina revealed 3 e-gates are being installed at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga, which will be operational by the first week of December. (ABS-CBN News/PN)
