In San Enrique, red’s not for love on hearts’ day

ILOILO – The color red is usually associated with love. But not today, Valentine’s Day, in the local government unit of San Enrique, Iloilo.

Just for today, municipal employees are allowed to ditch their office uniform and report to work on “civilian attire” the color of which should reflect their current “love life status.”

Memorandum Order No. 1, Series of 2022 issued by Mayor Rosario Mediatriz Fernandez gave meaning to the colors.

Red means “taken for granted”, according to the memo.

It is white which means “in a relationship”.

Here are the other colors and their meanings, as stated in the memo:

* pink – umaasang babalikan

* orange – pinaasa

* yellow – moving on

* green – bitter and broken

* blue – looking/waiting for someone

* violet – friend-zoned

* brown – it’s complicated

* gray – single

* black – happy and contented

“To all our LGU employees, please be informed that we are suspending the wearing of uniform on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, our employees are encouraged to wear civilian clothes with colors reflecting their relationship/love life status,” said Fernandez./PN
