MANILA – The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) is set to hold a huge rally to show their support to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s “opinion” on the impeachment raps against Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.
In a report from INC-run network Net25’s “Sa Ganang Mamamayan” program on Wednesday night, host Gen Subardiaga announced the religious group’s plan to hold a rally in support of Duterte-Carpio.
“Ang mga kapatid sa Iglesia ay naghahanda na magsagawa po ng rally upang ipahayag sa lahat ng mga kinauukulan na ang Iglesia ni Cristo ay pabor sa opinyon ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na hindi sumang-ayon sa isinusulong ng ilang sektor na impeachment dahil maraming problema ang ating bansa na dapat unahin ng ating pamahalaan,” Subardiaga said.
“Ang Iglesia ni Cristo ay para sa kapayapaan. Ayaw namin, ayaw natin sa anumang uri ng kaguluhan na manggagaling sa kanino mang panig,” the program host added.
“Ngayon pa lamang mga kababayan ay nag-o-organisa na ang mga lokal sa buong Iglesia para magkaroon ng mga malalaking pagtitipon para ipakita at ipahayag itong binabanggit namin na pabor kami sa opinyon ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na no to impeachment,” he continued.
INC’s announcement came after President Marcos said that filing an impeachment case versus Vice President Duterte in his “opinion” is “not important.”
“If somebody files an impeachment, it will tie down the House, it will tie down the Senate. It will just take up all the time and for what? For nothing, for nothing. None of these will help improve a single Filipino life. As far as I am concerned, it’s a storm in a teacup,” Marcos said last week.
Currently, Duterte-Carpio is facing two impeachment complaints before the House of Representatives. The complaints were filed by the Akbayan party-list, civil society groups, the Makabayan bloc./PN
