ILOILO City – An Indian money lender was in critical condition at the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital. He was shot in Barangay Bolong Oeste, Santa Barbara, Iloilo yesterday.
Ranbeer Singh, 36, of Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district sustained gunshot wounds in the back and face.
According to Chief Inspector Rogelio Ortigas, Santa Barbara police chief, the shooting happened around 9:20 a.m. Signh was driving a motorcycle. His collector Michelle Brasa was his back rider.
A motorcycle came from behind and stopped Singh and Brasa. This motorcycle’s female back rider shot Singh then hurriedly left.
“No confrontation happened before the shooting. Singh was likely the only target. Brasa was left unharmed,” said Ortigas.
The Santa Barbara police declined to speculate the criminals’ motives. Investigation was ongoing as of this writing.
Ortigas said his men were yet to ascertain if Singh and Brasa were robbed.
“I have yet to talk to the victim’s collectorn,” said Ortigas.
