ILOILO City – The first indoor firing range in the country and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) building located inside the compound of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) in General Luna Street here opened yesterday.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Leo Francisco and ICPO director Colonel Leo T. Batiles led the turnover and inauguration of the facilities.

A blessing of the building followed.

The P10.2-million project is funded by the Iloilo city government from its Peace and Order Program.

“As long as I am the mayor, I will support the needs of our PNP here in Iloilo City,” Treñas said.

He also mentioned that the city government has already awarded the procurement of 10 units of pistol caliber carbine, 30 rounds of magazine 16-inch barrel, and four units of AR semi-automatic shotgun with 10 rounds of magazines which will be of use to the city police.

The firing range and the new SWAT building would be a big help to the city police to better perform their duties and to protect the citizens against untoward incidents.

/PN
