KALIBO, Aklan – The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) here is pushing for a P1-million additional allocation for each of the 16 villages in the town.

Vice Mayor Cynthia Dela Cruz said the council, through a resolution, was urging Mayor Emerson Lachica to appropriate the amount for the infrastructure projects of each barangay.

“The vision of Kalibo is to create a vibrant, livable and greener city. One indication of a vibrant city is the easy movement of people and goods. This needs good transportation through good roads,” the resolution said.

“The people of Kalibo are happy with the opening of the new circumferential road in Barangay Tigayon but the same should be connected to other municipal and barangay roads not only for good transportation of goods but an indication of a progressive town in becoming a city,” it added.

The appeal was developed after the SB noted that the concentration of the infrastructures is seen within the boundaries of Barangay Poblacion in Kalibo.

The SB resolution also empowers the barangays to decide for their respective infrastructure projects using the said amount. The budget, if approved, can be utilized next year./PN
