ILOILO City – Robbers carted away some P105,000 cash kept inside the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office in Pototan, Iloilo.
Investigators were inclined to believe it was an “inside job.”
One of their three suspects was an employee of the office, said Chief Inspector Ronnie Brillo, municipal police chief.
A witness helped them identify the suspects, Brillo said. “We hope to file charges soon.”
The burglary was discovered last Friday.
Police believe the culprits destroyed the padlock of the office’s main door either Thursday evening or early Friday morning.
The cabinet where the cash was kept was left open. The suspects headed straight to it as if they already knew which cabinet to target, said Brillo, citing investigation.
“The suspects did not open any other drawer or cabinet,” said the police officer.
Investigators said the office’s security camera was unable to capture the suspects./PN
