ILOILO City – Qualified applicants found decent employment through the Labor Day’s online Job Fair on May 1.
The activity conducted through the collaboration of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VI (DOLE-6) and mynimo.com, was part of the 119th Labor Day Trabaho Negosyo Kabuhayan Jobs and Business Fairs which generated 6, 097 job vacancies and invited 5, 224 registrants.
Among the 2,343 registrants who applied, 21 were hired on the spot and are assured of employment mostly as encoders, profilers, enumerators, and office workers.
Fifty-three near-hired applicants have applied as tellers, non-voice agents, customer service representatives, technical support representatives, and accounting assistants.
Near hired applicants are considered hired but need to submit additional or lacking requirements, or may need to attend further interviews or tests.
There are still 231 applicants for tellers, sugarcane mill workers, customer service representatives, human resource representatives, instructors, human resource staff, among others being evaluated.
DOLE-6 regional director Cyril Ticao was delighted to have provided job opportunities through the virtual Job Fair, “We are happy that we have facilitated employment even if there are restrictions to conduct mass gatherings and the online Job Fair is a manifestation of DOLE’s creativeness especially during this time of the pandemic.”
Ticao also acknowledged the employers’ active participation by posting their job vacancies.
Sixty-four applicants were referred to Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for skills training, while 67 were referred to the Department of Trade and Industry for business opportunities and the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns for livelihood assistance.(DOLE-6)
