ILOILO City – Integrated Academy School System, Inc. or “Integros” clinched the basketball crown in the 2019 Iloilo Governor’s Cup Inter-varsity competition at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

The Integros captured the inaugural Governor’s Cup title by defeating the CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights in the gold medal match, 97-81.

Joseph Mathew Escalante spearheaded the attack with 16 markers on Sunday night. The Integros dominated from start to finish in the do-or-die finale.

Integros dictated the tempo early in the match. It jumped to a double digit advantage but the Silver Knights tried to keep the match close at the half.

Escalante got his shots to fall in the second half. His outside hits gave Integros its largest lead of the match as 20 points midway in the third canto.

Silver Knights star Lester Valn Paraico was limited 14 points. He was hounded by the Integros’ defense all match long.

The Iloilo Governor’s Cup was the first inter-varsity competition in the province participated by private varsity schools and five pilot public varsity schools./PN
