Investigation on Guo’s escape ‘almost finished’

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission shares this undated photo which, it says , shows dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said the investigation on the escape of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo and her siblings is “almost finished.”

In an interview at Malacañang, the Chief Executive said he had a “very good idea” about those who helped Alice and her group leave the country amid the cases they are facing here.

“A very very good idea… I have a very, very good idea,” Marcos said when asked whose heads will roll following the probe. “We will identify all of those who are involved in this and we will act very quickly.”

“That’s the last part of this investigation – how far, how deep does this go. Isa lang bang tao ang involved o marami sila, o sindikato ito. That’s what we’re looking for. There are no sacred cows,” he added.

Despite being the subject of an immigration lookout bulletin due to the ongoing investigations, Guo was able to leave the country last July 18. She is reportedly currently in Indonesia.

Shiela, Alice’s sister who was arrested along with business associate Cassandra Li Ong, admitted during the Senate Subcommittee on Justice and Human Rights hearing on Tuesday that she left the country with the dismissed mayor by boat.

The Office of the Ombudsman recently dismissed the controversial mayor from service for grave misconduct with forfeiture of all her retirement benefits as well as perpetual disqualification from public office.

According to the Ombudsman, Alice “remained to be the real, true, and actual President of Baofu” and stood to benefit from the continued operations of the raided POGO hub in her locality.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) also filed a tax evasion complaint against Alice as she failed to pay P500,000 in taxes for her alleged sale of her shares in the Baofu Corporation.

Alice is also facing a human trafficking complaint in relation to the raided POGO hub before the Department of Justice, while a petition seeking to remove Guo from office was also filed before a Manila court./PN
