BACOLOD City – A private firm providing garbage hauling and collection services to the City of Bacolod will continue its operations.

This comes after the IPM-Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) won the bid for the environmental and sanitary services of the local government.

The approved budget for the contract amounted to P229,165,701.14, and the firm’s bid amount was P227 million.

Two companies participated in the bidding, the other being MetroWaste Solid Waste Management Corporation (MetroWaste).

The Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) withheld disclosing its bid amount as the company was reportedly non-eligible with some legal and technical requirements.

It was learned that Metro Waste filed a motion for reconsideration but the committee denied the motion. Instead, the company was given seven days by the BAC to file a protest.

According to Joseph Karol Chiu, Secretary to the Mayor, the BAC has proceeded with its post-qualification process.

The IPM-CDC’s existing contract with the city will expire on Jan. 31. The new contract will cover the period from Feb. 1 until Dec. 31.

It was reported that IPM-CDC also has an existing contract for the operation and maintenance of the city’s sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa./PN
