ILOILO – For the past nine months, the crime volume in this province dropped, according to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
From January to September, IPPO recorded 7,850 crimes – 4.70 percent lower than the 9,967 cases it recorded for the same period last year.
Most of these were physical injuries cases – 453. These were much lower than last year’s 604.
According to Senior Superintendent Roderick Augustus Alba, IPPO director, the crime drop was due to his men’s non-stop operation against loose firearms, fugitives and illegal drugs.
Enhanced police visibility also discouraged lawless elements from striking, said Alba.
“Aggressive law enforcement operations were really a big help,” said Alba.
The police director also said he conducts frequent conferences with his men to plan peace and order activities, and taps the help of stakeholders such as local government units./PN
