ILOILO – The director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) reprimanded the chief of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station (MPS) for neglecting the case of a police officer who attempted to shoot a minor.

Police Colonel Noel Aliño personally went to the Dumangas MPS and made its chief, Police Major Kenn Albert Lepsia, understand that the investigation should be fair.

A 17-year-old minor complained after a policeman from the Dumangas MPS’ Mobile Force Battalion pointed a gun at him during a fracas in Barangay Bacong Dumangas on Nov. 5 at around 11:30 p.m.

There was a commotion during a barangay disco, to which Lepsia, together with the four members of mobile force, responded.

The victim’s family also complained that Lepsia seemed to be siding with the cop instead of helping the teenager.

Meanwhile, following his conversation with the Dumangas police chief, Aliño assured the public that a fair investigation will be conducted and that if the police officer is guilty, he will be held accountable./PN
