ILOILO – Five thousand families in 43 municipalities economically displaced by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) here received food packs from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
The IPPO selected the poorest barangays in every town – with the help of municipal social welfare and development (MSWD) offices – for the civic outreach.
Each food pack contained rice, canned goods, sugar, coffee, noodles, and vegetables.
Priority beneficiaries in the distribution conducted on April 15 were the poorest families, said Police Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas, IPPO director.
He thanked local government units for their cooperation.
“We hope this humble support can help ease the burden of poor families who are the most badly affected by the enhanced community quarantine,” said Lucas.
The enhanced community quarantine will end on April 30.
Lucas also thanked concerned individuals and business establishments that supported the IPPO project.
“The bayanihan system is really a big help to the affected families. Kung may maipon pa tayo until April 30, we will sustain our program para walang magugutom. Kung may nais na tumulong willing naman kami mag-facilitate,” Lucas added./PN
