ILOILO – Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), has declared a heightened focus on combating robberies in the province, in addition to tackling illegal drugs and gambling.

Despite low incidences of robbery and theft, Razalan emphasized the need for vigilance against potential robbers waiting for opportune moments.

He instructed his police chiefs to ramp up intelligence efforts to monitor thief activity within their jurisdictions.

“We must be prepared for thieves, as they will strike when given the chance. We need to take preventive measures to thwart their plans,” said Razalan.

Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), noted the absence of monitored robbery groups in the region but cautioned against complacency.

He urged all police units across Western Visayas to increase visibility, particularly in streets and high-crime areas.

“I want my officers to boost their presence through regular patrols and checkpoints. They need to be vigilant for any signs of robbery groups operating in their areas,” Wanky emphasized.

Additionally, Wanky instructed his personnel to reinforce the barangay intelligence network (BIN) and collaborate closely with barangay officials to gather information on criminal activities./PN
