ILOILO City – To beef up police visibility, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) launched Motoronda Squad or the Iloilo Motorcops Anti-crime and Emergency Responders on Saturday, March 18.
Police Major Rolando Araño, IPPO spokesperson, said the squad composed of eight motorcycle riding cops is the brainchild of IPPO director, Police Colonel Ronaldo Palomo. It will serve as a quick response team in case of emergency.
“Sila ang first responder team when there are street crimes kag aksidente sa dalan. Kag in case may crime kag mga suspects nga magpalagyo sa remote nga area sila ang mabulig lagas through motorcycles. The use of motorcycle can help for easy mobility and keep the community safe and secure,” Araño said.
Members of the squad will also undergo training on first aid and other techniques in rescuing patients in case of vehicular accidents, he said.
The motoronda squad was first launched in the 5th District at the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company headquarters in Camp Jalandoni, Barangay Zerrudo, Sara, Iloilo.
