ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), together with the National Police Commission (Napolcom), held a symposium on crime prevention and special laws in Barangay San Jose, San Miguel here on Monday, Sept. 5.
Teachers and learners of San Jose Elementary School headed by officer-in-charge Stephen Facto, together with barangay officials and residents, attended the activity.
Among the topics discussed were crime prevention tips and salient provisions of Republic Act (RA) 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act; RA 10627, or the Anti-Bullying Act; RA 7610, or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act; and RA 8353, or the Anti-Rape Law.
Spearheaded by IPPO’s Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU), in partnership with Napolcom-6, Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), and San Miguel Municipal Police Station (MPS), the symposium was part of the 28th National Crime Prevention Week celebration with the theme: “Sa New Normal: Sambayanan Magtulungan, Krimen ay Hadlangan Tungo sa Kapayapaan.”
It was in line with Philippine National Police chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr.’s peace and security framework known as Malasakit, Kaayusan, at Kapayapaan tungo sa Kaunlaran (M+K+K=K).
Police Lieutenant Colonel Jojo Tabaloc, PCADU chief; Atty. Rutchel Hechanova Espinosa, Provincial Napolcom Officer; Police Major Sullen Domingo, OIC of San Miguel, Iloilo police station; and Police Major Ma Liza Nofuente, WCPD chief, were also present during the activity./PN
