IPPO nets 91 fugitives, 65 loose guns in January

ILOILO City – For the month of January, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) was able to arrest a total of 91 wanted persons.

Out of the total arrested individuals, 13 belonged to the Top 10 most wanted persons list in their respective areas, IPPO records showed.

Municipal police stations with the highest number of arrested persons from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31 were those of Barotac Viejo (seven), Cabatuan, Janiuay and Carles (six each), and Lambunao and Dumangas (five each).

Meanwhile, in the campaign against loose firearms, 65 loose firearms were voluntarily surrendered to various police stations across the province.

Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, IPPO director, attributed the achievement to their “Tokhang Kontra Armas Luthang” program.

“Our campaign against loose firearms is effective. People voluntarily surrendered their guns to avoid being arrested and jailed,” Gorero said.

He also ordered his police chiefs to run after criminal gangs and those with pending warrants of arrest.

“The IPPO is committed to sustain the eradication of loose firearms in the province while intensifying the arrest of wanted persons,” Gorero said.

He appealed to the public to report to the nearest police station any information about fugitives hiding from authorities and those owning improvised gun./PN
