IPPO nets P21-M ‘shabu’, 24 suspects in week-long ops

ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) seized suspected shabu worth P21 million during operations across the province from March 10 to 16.

A total of 17 operations were carried out, resulting in the confiscation of more than three kilos of the said illegal substance and arrest of 24 suspects.

IPPO director Colonel Bayani Razalan said the aforementioned drug haul is the biggest so far among IPPO’s week-long antidrug operations.

The municipalities of Balasan and Estancia recorded the highest seizure, amounting to around P13.7 million worth of illegal drugs in two separate buy-bust operations.

Officers of the Balasan Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by Captain Renzo Martinez caught alias “Jopet,” 40, a resident of Barangay Dulonan, Pilar, Capiz, with around 890 grams of shabu approximately valued at P6,052,000 in Barangay Kinalkalan.

Another operation executed in Barangay Bulaqueña, Estancia arrested live-in partners aliases “Brother” and “Lyn,” who yielded P7.616 million worth of shabu weighing 1,120 grams.

“My men responded to my instructions to prioritize drug operations and as much as possible seize huge amount of drugs from drug peddlers,” said Razalan.

He added that they are now strictly monitoring local ports to monitor the entry of illegal drugs.
