ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) seized P3,733,200 worth of shabu and arrested six suspects in separate drug operations in the province on Friday, Sept. 1.

The first operation was at 12:24 a.m. in Barangay Poblacion Southeast, Lemery, Iloilo.

The IPPO seized 31 sachets of shabu, including the buy-bust item. All weighed more or less 200 grams and were valued at P1,360,000.

The suspects were Shiela Mae Yu, 34; Jose Maria Yu, 26; Bryan Yu, 29; and Angel Kyth Alavaren, 21, all residents of Barangay Poblacion, Estancia, Iloilo.

They were detained at the Lemery Police Station.

The second police operation was on Leonardia Street, Barangay 9, Tigbauan, Iloilo.

Kirby John Tajanlangit, 28, of the same place, was the No. 4 drug-pushing suspect in Western Visayas.

IPPO’s Drug Enforcement Unit asset bought one big sachet of shabu worth P13,600 from Tajanlangit around 3:45 p.m.

The police recovered seven sachets of shabu, including the buy-bust item, valued at P231,200.

Tajanlangit was the suspected shabu supplier in the 1st District of Iloilo, according to Police Major Francis Albert Fortunado of the IPPO.

Fortunado said the suspect was once arrested and jailed for the same offense. Tajanlangit was released from prison sometime in 2019 after he availed himself of a plea bargain.

Tajanlangit was detained at the Tigbauan Police Station.

At 9:10 p.m. in NHA Pabahay, Barangay Barosbos, Carles, Iloilo, 24-year-old suspect Raul Yu of Poblacion, Estancia, Iloilo was arrested.

The police recovered 315 grams of shabu, valued at P2,142,000.

Further recovered were an ammunition-loaded break-type homemade shotgun and another two pieces of shotgun ammunition.

A police intelligence report said Yu’s father was detained in New Bilibid Prison, Muntinlupa City for a drug case.

The suspect, detained at Carles Police Station, will face violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165, the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; RA 10591, Illegal Possession of Homemade Firearm; and the Commission on Elections gun ban.

Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor congratulated the IPPO personnel for these two huge accomplishments.

“Sa sunod-sunod pong matatagumpay na operasyon laban sa iligal na droga, aking pong pinapasalamatan ang mamamayan na siyang nagbibigay ng positive na information sa ating kapulisan,” said Villaflor./PN
