ILOILO – Around 100 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately P680,000 were confiscated from two high-valued drug suspects in a drug buy-bust operation in Estancia town in this province.

The 38-year-old laborer alias “Roy,” a resident of the town’s Barangay Gogo, and 34-year-old alias “Em-Em” of Barangay Guzman-Jesena, Mandurriao, Iloilo City were arrested around 9:22 a.m. on Thursday, June 27.

The operation was carried out by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit and Special Operations Group, in collaboration with the Estancia police’s Station Drug Enforcement Team.

The suspects were detained at the Estancia Municipal Police Station.

They will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Colonel Bayani Razalan, officer-in-charge director of the IPPO, said the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs represent a major setback to the drug trade in both the province of Iloilo and Western Visayas.

“This operation, along with other recent successful efforts, highlights the unwavering dedication of our Ilonggo cops and other law enforcement units to eliminate illicit substances and criminal activities from our community,” Razalan added./PN
