IPPO sends additional cops to Alimodian, Bingawan

ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) deployed 10 more police personnel to the municipality of Alimodian to help enforce quarantine measures.

Twenty-four persons were recently confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) there.

Just this June 29, IPPO director Police Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas deployed 38 police personnel to Alimodian after Mayor Geofree Alonsabe placed his town under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Fourteen rural health workers tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

The ECQ was supposed to end on July 15 but Alonsabe opted to extend it after another 10 persons tested positive for the disease.

“We deployed 10 more personnel to Alimodian on July 15 to augment our 38 policemen sent there on June 29. We pulled some of our men from the IPPO headquarters, the Regional Public Safety Battalion and Special Weapons and Tactics,” Lucas said.

All the Alimodian COVID-19 patients were being isolated at the town’s quarantine facility.

Lucas said he also deployed 10 cops to the town of Bingawan since it was also placed under ECQ.

Six health workers there tested positive for the virus.

“Lahat na areas na may ECQ magpapadala tayo ng tao para mag-augment kasi nagpapatupad tayo ng strict entry and exit inspections sa borders,” said Lucas./PN
