IPPO warns vs gun discharge on New Year

BY MARY JOY CAVAÑAS

ILOILO – Police authorities issued a warning against indiscriminately firing guns during the New Year celebration.

Iloilo Police Provincial Office spokesperson Major Rolando Araño said discharging any firearm, with or without a license, is strictly prohibited.

Araño said there are many ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve without potentially causing harm to others, especially in cases of stray bullet injuries.

Republic Act 11926 penalizes the willful and indiscriminate discharge of firearms. This includes imprisonment for one to 30 days and a P40,000 fine./PN
