KYRIE Irving has got his wish to be traded out of Brooklyn Nets after he was shipped to Dallas Mavericks in a two-team, four-player trade on Sunday (Monday in the Philippines).
According to multiple reports, Irving, a former top-overall pick in the NBA, along with center Markieff Morris Sr. were shipped by the Nets to the Mavericks.
In exchange, the Nets acquired their former player Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, Dallasā 2029 first round draft pick and multiple second round picks.
Nets opted to choose the package offered by the Mavericks rather than the offers made by other teams in Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers.
It was reported that the eight-time NBA All-Star Irving was āecstaticā with his pending arrival to the Mavericks, where he is set to pair with Dallas star Luka Doncic.
Irving also believes that he has more chance of winning his second NBA title with the Mavericks rather than with Kevin Durant and his former team Nets.
Irving is set to arrive in Dallas as early as Monday for his physicals before making his Mavericks debut against Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday (Thursday in the Philippines).
Irving is also likely to sign a contract extension with the Marc Cuban-owned Mavericks once his current contract expires at the end of the 2022-2023 NBA Season this June.
Irving, a one-time NBA champion, has requested the trade out of the Nets over the weekend after negotiations for a contract extension reportedly bogged down.
Irving reportedly did not like the contract extension offered to him by the Nets where he will be given the length of contract he wants if they win the NBA title this season./PN
