BACOLOD City – Did Councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan transfer to a new political group?
On Monday, former mayor Monico Puentevella posted on Facebook a photo of him, Tan, former vice mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, and Abang-Lingkod representative Stephen Paduano in what appeared to be a birthday celebration.
Tan – the No. 1 councilor of this capital city – said yesterday that his attendance to the private gathering was not an indication that he switched to a new political group, specifically Puentevella’s Magbinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan Partido Bacolod.
“Nag-inupdanay kami sa isa ka sosyal nga bagay kay birthday ni Monico, gani nagkadto ako didto…No big thing happened there,” said Tan.
Some barangay officials were also there, he added.
Tan stressed that he is still with Grupo Progreso, which is led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Puentevella’s political nemesis.
Tan joined Grupo Progreso when he ran for councilor in the May 2016 elections.
Last month, he announced that he is planning to join the mayoralty race in next year’s midterm polls./PN
