MANILA – Will the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) lift Abueva’s suspension soon?
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said that he is aware of the “good deeds” done by Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters forward Calvin Abueva.
Marcial said in an interview with
Spin.ph that he facilitated a certain task for the former PBA Rookie of the
Year awardee Abueva to accomplish before his indefinite suspension will be reconsidered.
“May pinapagawa lang tayo. Ongoing
na. Hindi ko lang masabi kasi
confidential,” Marcial said. “Pag naayos
na ‘yung pinagagawa natin, tsaka
natin siya i-evaluate.”
Last year, the PBA commissioner slapped Abueva with an indefinite suspension after he clotheslined (knocked down someone by placing one’s outstretched arm in the runner’s path at neck level) Talk ‘N Text KaTropa import Terrence Jones during the early part of the Commissioner’s Cup.
Marcial admitted that he has acknowledged
the big character change of Abueva when the latter distributed food packs in
the San Juan area in time of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Si Calvin, nakita kong namimigay sa mga drivers,” Marcial said. “Nakita ninyo naman malaki ang pinagbago ni
Calvin.”
“Hindi lang naman yan ang ginagawa ni Calvin, marami pang iba,” he added. “Nakita natin siya tumulong sa Pampanga. ‘Yung sa Taal (eruption) nagluto siya. Nakikta namin lahat ang ginagawa ni Calvin./PN
