BACOLOD City – Mayor Joselito Malabor of Isabela, Negros Occidental wants his town’s police chief relieved.

In his letter to Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) director Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., Malabor requested for the replacement of Chief Inspector Ruben Pajarito.

Malabor said he wants a municipal police chief who has his “trust and confidence.”

He added that the municipal police station needs to intensify its antidrug and anticrime campaign, especially in the aspect of intelligence gathering.

In another letter, Malabor requested Castil to designate Chief Inspector Romeo Salvador, who is currently assigned in Luzon, to replace Pajarito.

Malabor said there is a “very low” number of apprehensions in Isabela.

Pajarito is a native of Isabela. He has many relatives there that is why he cannot perform his duty as chief of police well, according to Malabor.

Nocppo spokeswoman Senior Inspector Aireen Cordua said they already received Malabor’s request.

For his part, Pajarito told Panay News, “Normal lang nga may power ang mayor to choose sang gusto niya nga police chief.”

Pajarito added that he does not have issues with the local government or with Malabor./PN
