Isabela police force not strong enough – mayor

BACOLOD City – The police force in Isabela, Negros Occidental is not strong enough, according to town mayor Joselito Malabor.

Malabor has requested additional police personnel from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) but the latter has yet to respond.

The mayor added that he will follow up his request with Nocppo director Senior Superintendent Romeo Baleros.

The request for additional policemen in the town is in view of the upcoming May 13 midterm elections.

The police station in Isabela – one of the five identified “elections hotspots” in Negros Occidental – is “undermanned,” said Malabor.

According to the mayor, eight additional police officers will suffice, adding that he also requests for the relief of one police personnel in the municipal police station.

The additional police force will help secure the town on days leading to the election day, Malabor said.

The mayor also warned “outsiders” not to intervene in the political affairs of Isabela.

“[The elections] will be peaceful as long as no outsiders will intervene,” he said./PN
