ISAT-U produces face masks for COVID-19 frontliners

ILOILO City – The Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) will produce a total of 7,000 face masks which will be handed out to assist the frontliners in curbing the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak.

ISAT-U President Raul Muyong led the turn-over of the first batch of the face masks. A thousand pieces were delivered to the Iloilo City Hall, while 100 pieces were given to the National Economic and Development Authority Region 6 on March 25.

According to ISAT-U’s Public Information Office, the masks were made by community partners that were also the recipients of the livelihood skills training conducted by the university through the Extension Services Division.

Aside from face masks, ISAT-U will also be producing aerosol boxes for intubation and face shields through the ISAT-U prototyping and fabrication laboratory in the research hub.

The personal protective equipment will be delivered to various front line institutions as soon as production will be completed.(With a report from PIA/PN)
