ILOILO City – The Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) will be celebrating its 6th anniversary today. The virtual celebration features the blessing and inauguration of the completed infrastructure projects on the Iloilo City campus.
This year, despite the ongoing threat of the pandemic, ISAT-U decided to push through with the activity as a token of gratitude to everyone. The unwavering support of its stakeholders allowed the institution to reach new frontiers. Hence, the theme, “ISAT-U: Upholding Quality and Excellence in Higher Education amidst COVID-19 Pandemic.”
The event will start with a blessing of The Access Route worth P14,959,567.28, Student Services Building with an estimated amount of P47,564,708.8 million, and the ISAT-U Gender Center which costs P3,078,170.7 million followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass.
These completed infrastructure projects were initiated and realized as a result of the various consultations done by the ISAT-U Administration together with the students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff.
The Access Route (overpass) in particular, which connects the two sites of the Iloilo City campus is a consensual solution to the flooding woes of the ISAT-U community. The Student Services Building, on the other hand, is the brainchild of Dr. Raul Muyong, which conveniently houses different offices that are relevant to the “admission to employment” operational design of the building. The ISAT-U Gender Center is the university’s landmark project for its gender and development efforts in the region.
Part two of the Anniversary Special includes the messages from the honored guests, Hon. J. Prospero De Vera III, chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education and chairman of the ISAT-U Board of regents, and Hon. Jerry Treñas, mayor of this city and author of the Republic Act 10595, the law that converted WVCST to ISAT University.
It was on May 18, 2015, when the requirements of the law were finally complied with, thereby allowing the institution to use Iloilo Science and Technology University as its official name./PN
